The Rotor-Stator mechanism sat at the rear of the working section of the tunnel, seen to the left.
NEAT Tunnel - Rotor Stator

The following pictures detail the Rotor-Stator mechanism and each of its components. The speed was set and monitored using an arduino and a digital encoder on the motor.
The Rotor-Stator design was based on a system developed by Al-Asmi et al. 1993. A solid model of the design was created such that the design could be optimized for the NEAT tunnel. The design used a center rotating disk attached to a DC motor. Each side then had air bleed slots to ensure that flow reversal did not occur. A more detailed drawing of the system is shown below along with a plot of resulting velocity taken with this system implemented in the NEAT tunnel.
